Some lessons we can learn from Alice – and, in a broad sense, even more from Wonderland.

A project by Marlene Schäfer

Turn Your Mind Off

My main source material was the book "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll.

During the research period I focused on the theory, that the story was based on drug experiences. Therefore I worked with Timothy Leary's texts about LSD, drug experience reports and medical descriptions about hallucinations and drugs.

Further, I used the stylized Disney-cartoon image of Alice, which i simplified even more. The book shows this outlined image of Alice a in many different states: on drugs, upside down, looking alike characters of the Wonderland etc.

I choosed the name "Turn your mind off" as this is the only way to understand – or better not understand – what happens to Alice during her adventures.

It also shows, that there is no way to understand Wonderland as everyone has an own personal Wonderland in mind.
